Cable J-Hook for Wall Mounting & Attaching to Vertical Surfaces
HPH J-Hooks are specially designed to provide optimum support for high speed data cable, such as Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Cat 7 and fiber optic.
We use a hybrid of metal and plastic components to offer the best of both worlds. The plastic component provides a two inch wide base support with a slick and burr free surface. The metal component provides a strong backbone. The combined J-Hook is UL listed, RoHS compliant, TIA compliant and is suitable for installation in plenum and air handling spaces.
One of the most innovative features of the HPH J-Hook is the built-in snap-lock retainer. This is far superior to clumsy retainer wires, cable ties or Velcro straps that require additional on-site installation.
Bend radius is an important factor in any high speed data cable installation. HPH J-Hooks offer the largest bend radius available at an average of 3.57 inches.
HPH J-Hooks are available pre-assembled to UL listed and RoHS compliant attachments, allowing for easy installation to a variety of structures and surfaces.
Consult with the cable manufacturer for proper installation guidelines.

What are Cable Hooks for Walls & Vertical Surfaces?
Cable hooks for walls are an easy tool for your data communication and low voltage cable systems and are indispensable parts of fiber optic, electrical and telecommunication structures. These systems are widely used in various applications, including fire protection, high-speed data, telecommunications, fiber optics and electrical cabling. All these applications usually require large amounts of cables. If not properly managed, these cables can end up in a disorganized, tangled mess that can have far-reaching negative implications. Because of this, proper cable management, often considered an art and a science, is essential in applications that use data communication and low voltage cables. It ensures that your cables are installed for optimal performance and durability. It also ensures that your workspace is functional and aesthetically pleasing.
When installing cables in a given space, they usually need to be attached to ceilings, beams and other surfaces using special fixtures and equipment. Often, cables need to be installed along walls and other flat vertical surfaces. At Hook and Hanger, we supply all the various products you may require for proper cable installation and support. Specifically for wall cable management, we offer high-quality cable wall hooks known as wall J-Hooks.
As the name implies, J-Hooks are J-shaped fixtures used to support cables from many surfaces, including walls. You can assemble these hooks with various other accessories to increase their functionality. As cable wall hooks, you can easily install J-Hooks on walls with minimal additional fixtures. Our wall J-Hooks are of the highest quality and absolute best price and are fully compliant with all relevant industry codes. These include TIA, cULus and RoHS. They are also plenum compliant, which means they are safe to go above a suspended ceiling.
cULus listed. The UL (Underwriters Laboratories) is a not-for-profit, third-party organization that tests, approves and certifies products as safe for consumers. Operating since 1894, the UL has 182 laboratories in over 70 countries and tests over 18,750 categories of products. These, combined with the fact that the UL has no financial interest in the products they test, make consumers confident that their certification is a reliable indication that our cable wall hooks have met the stringent requirements and are safe to operate. cULus means it applies to Canada and the US.
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is based on the European Union's Directive 2002/95/EC. It is a product level compliance that restricts the use of specific hazardous substances in electronic, electrical and related equipment. Products that are compliant with the 2002/95/EC directive do not contain more than the allowable amounts of harmful lead, cadmium, mercury, cadmium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), hexavalent chromium, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), with a few exemptions. Our J-Hooks are RoHS compliant and are safe for the environment and health.
TIA. The TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association) has various standards concerning telecommunication equipment. Our J-Hooks meet all these standards.
We supply two variants of cable hooks for wall installations; HPH series metal/plastic J-Hooks and JH series J-Hooks. These products differ in features, load-carrying capacities, sizes, surface finish, price and applications.
HPH Series Metal/Plastic J-Hooks
The HPH (High-Performance Hybrid) series J-Hooks are a high-quality amalgamation of galvanized steel and polymer plastic components. The polymer plastic component provides a 2" wide base support for cables. This base is designed for optimum support with a bend radius to minimize stress concentration at the points where the cables enter and exit the hook. It also prevents indentation, creasing, pinches and other cable deformations as hooks that have flat bases create kinks in sagging cables, at the edges of the hook. The bend radius feature is immensely beneficial in supporting high-speed data cables such as CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, CAT7 and fiber optic cables.
The broad base plastic support also has a slick burr-free surface that allows you to pull cables through the hook without damaging their outer sheath.
The metal component acts as the backbone of the hook, providing support and strength. It is made of galvanized steel and has a perfect balance of strength and lightweight. It also makes the J-Hook sturdy and provides the load-carrying capacity that makes the hook capable of supporting many cables. The 4" HPH J-hook, for example, can easily hold 300 2-strand fiber optic cables when installed on a wall.
Our HPH series cable hooks for wall also feature an innovative built-in snaplock retainer that easily but firmly snaps in place to secure cables in place. This retainer is far superior to cable ties, velcro and retainer wires.
These J wall hooks are easy to install on walls. They feature a hole in the metal component through which you can install the hook to a wall using a screw, nail, or bolt with a minimum head diameter of 0.329". For temporary installation on steel walls, you can assemble the hook to a PM90 pot magnet. The back of the J wall hook is flush-mount for easy installation on walls.
All our HPH wall J-hooks are fully compliant with relevant industry codes. The table below contains our HPH series products and their sizes and number of cable units for likely cables.
Installing Cable Wall Hooks On Walls and Other Vertical Surfaces
The first step is to plan out the path and length of the cables. It is also essential to know the type of cables and how many cables would be part of a bundle. This knowledge would help you determine the size and types of cable wall hooks you would need for your application.
The length of the cable path will help you determine how many wall J-Hooks you require for the hooks to be spaced appropriately.
Next, install the hooks. If you intend to use screws, make sure you drill the necessary holes into the walls first. When installing the hooks as we described earlier, maintain a maximum of 5 ft spacing internal between hooks. Also, when laying the cables in the hooks, ensure that there is no more than one foot of sag in the cables between consecutive hooks.
After installing the cables, secure them in place with the snap lock retainers (if you are using the HPH series cable wall hooks). Inspect the entire layout to ensure that the cable system is neat and meets all industry guidelines.
Hook and Hanger supplies high-quality cable hooks for walls and other vertical flat surfaces. We offer durable J-Hooks at the best prices available in the market.
